HOW TO APPLY TO PS 9

Students applying for the September 2012 Kindergarten year must have a 2007 birth date, be a resident of NYC and must reside in the school zone. Kindergarten Admissions Process for the 2012-2013 School Year (General Education)

The Kindergarten admissions process is school-based, but there is a standard timeline for all schools and there are citywide guidelines for eligibility and admissions priorities. You must submit an application for Kindergarten admission, even if you are applying to your zoned school.

This admission Intake-Pre-registration process period will start with the intake application for every new incoming Kindergartener. Students need not accompany the parent at the time the application is submitted. When you come to apply, make sure to bring your child's birth certificate or passport, and two documents which provide proof of residence, the name, date of birth and OSIS number of any siblings. A list of acceptable documents for this purpose will be available on our Registration Information page (coming soon). All applications received by the deadline of March 2, 2012 will be treated the same—it is NOT first-come, first-served.

The PS 9 office will accept Intake-Pre-Registration applications each weekday, following this schedule:

9:00-11:00am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

9:00am-1:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Student selection, after testing scores are finalized, is made solely by the Department of Education, the Office of Student Enrollment. After the testing is completed, students qualifying and meeting G&T criteria of admission will be provided with a DOE application. This application will show schools participating in the G&T Programs in District 3. After sending in the application, families wait for placement offers. If your child is placed at PS 9 you must bring the DOE letter and to proceed with the pre-registration process.
